Press ReleasesSuperconductive Components, Inc. Announces New President and CEOCONTACT: COLUMBUS, Ohio -- March 14, 2002 -- Dr. Edward R. Funk, Sc.D., Founder and Chairman, Superconductive Components, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SCCI), today announced that Dan Rooney has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer, effective March 1, 2002. Dr. Funk commented, "We are very pleased to have Dan join the Company. His experiences in the ceramics industry combined with a proven record of profitable sales growth are integral elements to Superconductive Components' future success. I look forward to remaining active as Chairman and working with Dan as he deems appropriate to continue building the Company." Prior to joining Superconductive Components, Mr. Rooney was General Manager for Johnson Matthey, Color and Coatings Division, Structural Ceramics Sector North America. His responsibilities included full financial accountability and production for a U.S. manufacturing facility, which produced finely milled powder, as well as for Structural Ceramics, a distributor for materials imported from four affiliated companies in Europe. These products were utilized for industrial ceramic applications. From 1985-1994, Mr. Rooney held various management positions at TAM Ceramics, Inc., a Cookson Group Company, based in Niagara Falls, New York. He was Sales Manager from 1992-1994 for this $20 million business, which included export sales of approximately 40%. He also held national sales and product management positions with TAM Ceramics, Inc. from 1985-1992. In addition, Mr. Rooney was involved in sales and engineering with companies engaged in the ceramics industry between 1976 and 1985. Mr. Rooney earned his MBA, Business Administration, degree from Niagara University in 1992 and his BS, Ceramic Engineering, degree from Rutgers College of Engineering in 1976. Superconductive Components, Inc. manufactures advanced ceramics such as superconductors, ferroelectric and optical materials for use in wire, cable, sensors, batteries, wireless and fiber optics systems. The Target Materials, Inc. Division of the Company manufactures thin film materials for photovoltaics, flat panel displays, electronic switches, hardness and decorative coatings.
